Michal Pinter works as Director of Governmental and EU Affairs at U.S. Steel Kosice, a subsidiary of the United States Steel Corporation, since January 2007. In his function, he represents U.S. Steel in the Slovak National Union of Employers (RUZ), country’s most influential employers’ association, as well as in the European Confederation of Iron and Steel Industries (EUROFER). He has been member of the European Economic and Social Committee since 2010 and named Vice President of Employers Group as of 2013. Mr. Pinter holds a M.A. in International Business from the University of Economics in Bratislava. After graduation, he spent one year as a Research Fellow at the Political and Business Journalism Resources Institute of Rutgers University, New Brunswick, NJ, USA, studying at the School of Communication, Information and Library Studies, and the Rutgers Business School. Prior to joining USSK, Mr. Pinter worked for eight years as a senior-level Economic Specialist at the United States Embassy in Bratislava, Slovakia. In 2006, he was awarded with the Superior Honor Award by U.S. Department of State Assistant Secretary for European and Eurasian Affairs. In 2005 and 2007, he was presented with the Annual Award of the Year from the American Chamber of Commerce in the Slovak Republic. Mr. Pinter also has several years of experience in financial news reporting. In 1996, he won Citibank Award for Excellence in Journalism as the best financial reporter of the year in Slovakia.
